About Candice Liedes OT
Online Occupational Therapist
Based in Tacoma, Washington and serving clients across Washington
Hi! I’m Candice.
I’m passionate about helping school-aged children develop the skills necessary to participate in all the things they need and want to do but struggle due to disability or delay.
The absolute best part of my job is witnessing the progress children make in areas that are so crucial to their development. I love helping them improve their motor skills, heighten their sensory awareness, and sharpen their executive function abilities. Whether it's assisting a child in refining their handwriting for school, fostering their ability to focus and follow instructions at home, or enabling them to engage more effectively with peers through sensory activities, every small step is celebrated! I also really enjoy providing coaching to parents, educators, and fellow therapists who support them.
How My Passion Developed
In 2002, I began my career in occupational therapy, initially focusing on the adult medical field—a role I truly enjoyed. However, seeking a new adventure and a job closer to home as a newly single parent in 2011, I transitioned to a position as an OT within my children's school district.
Working within my son's self-contained special education classroom was transformational as it offered me a profound perspective not only as an OT but also as a parent. It was here that I finally had exposure to other children just like my own, revealing patterns and insights that deepened my understanding and ability to support all children.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of children who see and interact with the world differently. As a parent, I understood the challenges that children with disabilities and their families face. My passion for this work has grown out of a deep desire to support childhood development in a fun and relatable way while also providing compassionate and effective support to their families.
How I live out my passion as a therapist
I get to work with children every day, helping them to develop essential skills while capitalizing on their strengths and interests. This makes for very fun and engaging virtual therapy sessions!
I also love celebrating the progress my clients make on their therapy path.
I know that each child’s journey will be their own and that every family has different priorities for what is meaningful about life to them. I want you to know that I will meet you and your child wherever you are, focusing on your child’s strengths to address challenges in a way that fits your lifestyle.
Accessible therapy and small wins are where it all starts. I offer telehealth OT services that are extremely effective without being boring or lengthy.
In addition to National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy, I hold a Master of Science in Applied Positive Psychology for Coaching, advanced certifications as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), and the State of Washington Educational Staff Associate Certification. My personal experience as a parent of a medically complex and neurodivergent adult child gives me a unique understanding that enhances my clinical expertise.
I'm here not only as a seasoned therapist but also as a compassionate parent, ready to support you and your child every step of the way
